2012W Term 1 (Sept-Dec 2012) and Term 2 (Jan-April, 2013)
The Physical Geography Program (GEOG) is looking to hire Teaching Assistants and Markers. Applicants should be enrolled as full-time students at UBC Okanagan (a full-time student is defined as a minimum of 24 credits over the 2 terms of the 2012W Session). Preferred qualifications include understanding of the discipline and good grades. Applications for UTA positions should be Physical GEOG majors with 4th year standing. Part time students can also be considered. All applicants including international students must be permitted to work in Canada until at least April 30, 2013.
Teaching Assistants may be involved in the following:
delivering lab experiments (including set up & take down) marking midterms, assignments, tests, quizzes and exams leading discussion periods and tutorials invigilating tests and examinations providing academic assistance to students during office hours various duties as appointed by the supervisor
The exact hours of these positions vary, but will not exceed 12 hours per week, for a maximum 384 hours Sept 1, 2012 – April 30, 2013 (considered full time). Markers are hired on a hourly basis. Successful candidates will be assigned duties in one or more undergraduate courses. Wages for these positions are:
Graduate TAs (PhD Program) $29.78 per hour ($11,435 maximum)
Graduate TAs (Masters Program) $28.69 per hour ($11,016 maximum)
Undergraduate TAs $14.65 per hour ($5,624 maximum)
Markers $14.08 per hour ($5,408 maximum)

All positions are subject to budgetary approval and are based on enrolment. Up to 2 GTA and 3 UTA positions are anticipated but not guaranteed. Marker positions are anticipated for GEOG 108 and 109 but final numbers are not confirmed at this date.
